The Cost of Inaction: How Overthinking Is Keeping You Stuck
Aug 16, 2025
Action Creates Clarity
Much like exercise strengthens the body, taking action strengthens progress. I could have kept researching, planning, and second-guessing myself for the launch of my "Clarity With Carole" Podcast. But the truth is, clarity doesn’t come from thinking about doing something—it comes from doing it.
So today, I took the final steps in launching my podcast known as "Clarity With Carole" . I recorded several audio versions earlier this year, pieced together the story line, and launched the podcast that can be found on your favorite platforms. It wasn’t perfect, but it was progress. And progress beats perfection every time.
The Real Cost of Waiting
Overthinking can be paralyzing and normally comes from a place of wanting perfection. I used to think waiting would make things easier—that if I just had more information or the right timing, I’d feel ready. But the real cost of inaction is staying in the same place while opportunities pass by. Every day I hesitated was a day I could have been learning, growing, and building forward motion.
Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
Just like with fitness, the hardest part is starting. But now that I’ve begun, I don’t want to stop. The next steps feel clearer because I’m in motion. I don’t need all the answers—I just need to keep going.
So, if you’re waiting for the perfect moment to start something big, let me tell you: it won’t come. The only way forward is to move. Start messy, start small, but start. Because once you take that first step, progress takes over.
What’s the one step you will take today toward your own goal?
